Presenter, Dr. Marla Jirak, CoachSmart Consulting

CoachSmart Consulting, LLC was developed from my experience as a consultant and coach for business and my experience as a caregiver for family members. Being appointed a guardian and conservator for my daughter with a traumatic brain injury and a power of attorney for my brother who has a development disability has helped me gain experience in the financial, medical, legal and personal areas as a caregiver. Part of understanding these needs and engaging with clients involves a great deal of Emotional Intelligence (EI). I became a certified masters coach for EI and have helped business women and men be successful in their role as a leader for their teams.

Emotional Intelligence is a beneficial skill to have for women. I will discuss the basic components of EI: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness and Relationship Management and how they can help women be more successful as leaders. Handouts of resources will be available for the group.

There will be a 15 to 20 minute exercise on completing a worksheet on self-awareness, which will help them gain more self aware of their actions and emotions. Attendees will go away with the basic knowledge of the four components of Emotional Intelligence for women.
