Presenter, Professor Rick Gibson.
I am an Associate Professor in the School of Business at ERAU and have been a Management Consultant for over 35 years. The primary skill needed in consulting is dealing with resistance.
Learn the 14 faces of resistance and how to effectually deal with them.
The key to understanding the nature of resistance is to realize that resistance is a reaction to an emotional process taking place within the client. It doesn't take place at an objective, logical, rational level. Resistance is a predictable, natural, and necessary part of the learning process. The skill in dealing with resistance is to : Be able to identify when resistance is taking place View resistance as a natural process and a sign that you are on target Support the client in expressing the resistance directly Not to take the expression of the resistance personally.
I will be using some actual case studies from past consulting projects.
Bring your lunch and something to take notes.
