Aiko yoga is a holistic vinyasa flow experience that integrates modern movement and the traditional intention of mediation that has been lost in many western practices. In a translation of the original text of the Yoga Sutras, yoga is described as the “progressive quieting of the fluctuations of the mind.” To achieve this the original goal of the physical aspect of yoga has been to prepare the body for meditation. With this, Aiko yoga begins with a breathing practice that leads to an energizing flow sequence, followed by deeper stretching, and concludes with a seated meditation. As balance, flexibility, and strength are challenged, get ready to awaken the body, mind, and spirit! This is an inclusive, nonjudgmental, supportive space where all skill levels are welcome!
Christina Aiko is a certified yoga teacher, camp facilitator, and avid rock climber. She moved to Prescott from Portland, Oregon to further her studies in the therapeutic use of adventure education at Prescott College.
