Stop Pushing My Buttons!

There's nothing quite like parenthood to bring you to your knees in search of answers, help, or some sort of lifeline to guide you through all of those unclear periods.  Otherwise you end up feeling alone - pulling your hair out, yelling for God knows why, and screaming at the top of your lungs…Ahhhh! STOP PUSHING MY BUTTONS!

The idea for Bridge for Parents came to me when I was in the middle of writing my book, 'Stretch Your Brave Hack Your Story' back in 2014.  I'm sure the idea came to me as I was writing about "why it's so important to take the time to look into your own history for the answers to your current challenges."  The topic is nothing new, but it's one of those topics that we humans need to hear over and over before we 'get it' and finally take action.

Humble New Beginnings

My husband, Greg, and I certainly have our fair share of imperfect parenting stories, which is how we ended up reaching out for support when things got out of control in our household. Our parenthood journeys began long before Greg and I met.  By the time we met in 2006 Greg already had four adult children, a teenager, a tween, and ten grandchildren! And I had two adult stepchildren, one teenager, and a tween.  You might be asking yourself, "Why on earth would we take the risk of coming together with that kind of baggage?!" Good question!

When Greg and I met, we not only fell in love, but we actually liked each other. We quickly became friends, dance partners, mountain bike riding adventurers, cooking companions, hiking buddies, and parenting confidants.  We also knew that our children would eventually grow up, move on, and embark on their own life adventures.

Since there's never any way to know how the future will unfold, we decided to take a chance on a lifetime adventure together. So we joined our two families along with our links to past relationships, and for lack of a better expression, OMG!

On our blog you will be able to read about some of our parenthood adventures, along with the stories and insights from other contributing parents, coaches, and various experts on navigating your way through parenthood.

We invite you to stay tuned, join our mailing list, and participate in our courses, workshops, and our parenthood cafe community. We're all about support, education, guidance, and a little hand holding when necessary.

Always remember to breath deep and reach out for support when you need it!

Love, Melanie Banayat
